A Little Piece of Nursing Heaven

If you ARE a nursing student or a nurse, you need this book! If you KNOW a nursing student, you need to get him/her this book! This is a life-saver for Med/Surg. It includes brief but detailed explanations of diseases, causes, assessment data, diagnostic studies, nursing dx, medical and/or surgical management as well as meds prescribed and d/c instructions! Perfect for using in clinicals, careplans and even quick refreshers!

I've recommended this text to my undergrad nursing students as a valuable quick reference. It's a really handy manual for taking to acute medicine clinical practicum as it gives a quick but solid overview of commonly encountered conditions. For each disease it includes a brief physio/patho description, possible causes, gender, ethnic and lifespan considerations, necessary assessment, nursing dx and collaborative as well as independent interventions, documentation guidelines, and DRG and LOS categories. It gives a nice 'heads up' for students and new nurses in the 'pharmacological highlights' and 'diagnostic highlights' to aid in anticipating care needs as well as further research needs. It's a great find!

Nursing book every nurse should have

This book helped me more than any other text book during nursing school. It takes a disease or disorder and breaks it down to the nuts and bolts. With every disease you get: a brief description of what it is, it's causes, gender and life span considerations, what to assess, primary nursing diagnosis, planning of care, common drugs used, what labs to look for, discharge guidelines, and what to document. This is all done in less than six pages on most diseases. This book saved me a tremendous amount of time, and I still use it in my nursing practice today. This book was my life line in nursing school, and I wouldn't have made it through without it. You won't regret getting this book. It can be a life saver.

This is a MUST HAVE book for all nursing student and health care professionals. The book is easy to read and provides all the essential details needed to properly care for patients. I utilize this book in all my classes. This is one of the best reference books that I have invested in.
