Excellent book for self-study by professionals, students

This is a great book for people such as engineers and scientists, as well as for programmers and software developers returning to obtain or finish a degree, to get the necessary background which would be provided by a typical two-semester course in discrete math or discrete structures. It is also quite appropriate for computer science students, who are the expected audience. The problems are challenging, and many of the solutions are given in the back. I took a discrete math course in a night program at a major university a few years ago, and in comparison I would say the book is superior. Even though the book is old, it covers the vast majority of the material currently taught, maybe with slightly different emphases on certain areas of the subject depending on the instructor and institution.
