If you are serious about CF development FB 4 is the way togo and the book is a must read. Well worth the money. The guys did a great job. (...)I am a CF developer for 6 years now and I've been using Fusebox 2/3/4. There wasn't really any need for a book about FB till now. With FB 4 this really changed. What can I say!? Fusebox 4 is what I have been waiting for. Finally I see the use of the MVC concept - and with Fusebox 4I got everything I need no implement it.The book is clearly structured and gave me all the backgroundinformation that I needed to understand FB 4. Everything iscovered from the very basics to the FuseQ and the memory structures. Although there are a lot of details covered itis still easy to read and not overloaded.
It worked for me.

I rate this book as 5 stars, although it has its disappointments. Let me explain. This is the first technology book that I've picked up and read cover to cover in three days. It is a fast, easy read. The authors are able to cover the topics well in relatively short chapters (10-15 pages of large print). The order in which the topics are covered is just about perfect. Before purchasing this book, I snooped around fusebox.org. This website got me curious, but left me only puzzled and needing something more definitive. After reading this book, I had the concepts down. I was elated to learn about MVC even though it is not required for Fusebox. I was also surprised with the coverage of Flash in the last four chapters. From a content standpoint and explanation of Fusebox, this book is great! I was disappointed with the book for two reasons. Most importantly, I was hoping for at least some exercises to work through. There are plenty of completed applications to download and check out. The book does a great job of explaining the applications. But, I learn best through doing, and I wasn't doing a whole lot. I downloaded the accompanying workbook from techspedition.com. This was a major let down. I was hoping for some exercises. It is a list of 100+ questions on Fusebox with many of the same questions repeated 2 and 3 times. I did not find this very helpful. Secondly, the book contains an unfortunate amount of typographical and grammatical errors. These errors do not take away from the content of the book. It just seemed odd to find so many errors in a professionally published book. I understand that the publishing company is not the "normal" publishing company. It just seems like the book was rushed to production, something I hope the software doesn't share. In Summary, the book allowed me to create a fusebox application after reading it. I used the MVC architecture along with it. All in all, it accomplished what I had hoped it would.

John Quarto-von Tivadar and his colleagues have done a superb job writing Discovering Fusebox 4. I'd highly recommend it to anyone seeking to learn Fusebox 4 or who has realized they need a better way to architect their ColdFusion applications. Here's specifically what I like:1) The book introduces Fusebox in a well-structured, easy-to-follow way. After an overview of the Fusebox architecture, the authors proceed to teach each aspect of the architecture sequentially and in great detail.2) The book encourages the reader to get hands-on with the material and walks the reader step-by-step through building several MVC apps. As a result, this book is great for both self-study and as a classroom textbook.3) The case studies are informative and the narrations that accompany them are clear and easy to understand. I especially liked the blog case study, which is developed in Chapter 13 without the MVC pattern and then again in Chapter 14 with the MVC pattern.4) With more and more developers using Flash as a front-end for their Web applications, I was delighted that 4 of the 26 chapters specifically focused on using Fusebox to architect ColdFusion applications with Flash as the front-end.In summary, I thought this book was top-notch and highly encourage anyone interested in ColdFusion Fusebox development to pick up a copy.

Fusebox is one of the most popular frameworks for building software and this book will teach you how to leverage the framework to its maximum. Well written, comprehensive, an excellent book.
