This is a great series for young aspiring artists. The material is presented a short lesson at a time - with explanation and discussion, then lots of example pictures. A good solid art vocabulary is introduced. Finally, each lesson has hands on assignments that don't require a lot of expensive materials. As an artist, I have been very impressed at the depth of education covered in these books. My best art professor in college used this exact same approach - only he added a formal critique of finished work after every lesson. My homeschooled son's creative talent is blooming with art study using these books. I highly recommend them.
The Good, But hard to find Art Resource Book
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 24 years ago
Discover Art Level 5 by Laura Chapman has been a popular Art resource in our Elementary School. We also use Levels 2, 3, and 4. As teachers have transfered out to other schools over the years, they are forever calling to "borrow" these resources. It must be good, as over the years the Discover Art 5 have slowly, slowly disappeared down to 12 books so u we no longer have class sets for our students. I have been searching for a supplier as a grade five teacher wishes to use this valuable resource for her class of 25. Glad to have found them, now, we'll look at the budget.
