Yup! too neat for words -- Didn't like the 10 year gap but I guess there needed to be a little age on the combatants. With Alexis coming in at 20 and Gabriel had to be in his thirties, 10 years is pushing their romance and thoughts of a family. The delayed mystery was great but to have a screw-up of Gabriel sleeping with someone he has to track down. Ugh!The charactization of Gabriel was excellent in his silences and aloneness and his determination to protect Alex.I was disappointed in Alex with her attempted suicide and then to marry Ben, looking for a father figure. But her growing maturity spoke well for her until the hormones set in. The excuse was weak for someone who could not trust the man.Evan Frank lent a big piece of reality to Gabriel's character as a government agent who appeared and faded out like the mist. The whole gist of the story was captivating enough to want more. Did they ever have a family? How did Alex reconcile herself to Gabriel's life? Did he give it up? Did she ever put the past behind her or just resign herself to the present?HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --M This should definitely be a keeper!
Masterful Suspense and an Edgy Hero

Kay David's DISAPPEAR is a suspenseful, well-crafted read. Government agent Gabriel O'Rourke is an edgy hero, rougher, more "lived in" than most, yet tender and caring where it counts. He carries a lot of baggage and feels responsible for what's happened to heroine Alexis Mission's family.Fast forward ten years and we see a new Alexis, now Alex, living a different life but harboring deep resentment toward Gabriel. When a sketch she made of her parents disappears from her bedroom, she telephones the drop number Gabriel gave her so many years ago, and sets in motion an encounter that leads to passion, terror, and pursuit.Ms David keeps the reader guessing with her well-crafted story of intrigue. DISAPPEAR is a fine example of the suspense stories currently showing up in the Superromance line. Brava Ms David.
exhilarating romantic suspense

After spending the past year in a remote Peru village, Alexis Mission returns home to New Mexico. Neither her parents nor her four-year-old brother knows she is coming because she fears rejection from father, who told her never to come back. However, no one is home yet it looks like her family left abruptly. Government agent Gabriel O'Roarke tells her that her family was murdered and she is unsafe so he forces her to vanish. Gabriel feels bad that he lied because her family still lives under a new name for their protection.Ten years later, Alex realizes that someone has entered her Austin home stealing a sketch she made of her family. Using the drop number Gabriel left her she gets in touch with him. He arrives and soon they fall in love, but he vows to adhere to his pledge to her father to keep her safe while knowing what will happen to their relationship if she learns the truth.DISAPPEAR is an exhilarating romantic suspense that engages the audience from the moment no one is at the Mission home (yet the stove is on) until the female protagonist struggles to figure out what happened to her family. Gabriel is a martyr doing what ever his country needs while keeping the Missions safe though he somewhat fails at the latter. The exhilarating novel clearly showcases Kay David's talent, but one must wonder how incredible the tale could have been if the plot followed up with a stunned Alex seeking closure from the moment Gabriel enters her life instead of the decade gap.Harriet Klausner

...P>Author Kay David pens a riveting tale of murder, intrigue and revenge in DISAPPEAR. She captures the essence of the challenges Alexis faces with grace. The struggle to establish a new identity, while forcibly rejecting the old definitions of self, forces Alexis to grow in directions few people must ever experience. Gabriel's own culpability in a mission gone wrong, and his attraction to Alexis, only heightens the tension between them. With a fascinating plot and unexpected twists and turns, David keeps the pages turning. DISAPPEAR comes very highly recommended.

A bit of matchmaking leaves Faith Broderick stranded with Cooper Adams on a dilapidated ranch without electricity, phone service or transportation. While there might not be anything for her at the Triple Bar Ranch, there certainly is nothing to return to in Illinois. Faith may have arrived to accept a position as housekeeper, but she soon wants to stay when she finds love amid the cobwebs, mice, and a bucket fed calf.Cooper finds the magnetism between them irresistible. But it will be years before the Triple Bar Ranch becomes profitable, and right now he cannot even offer running water. Too bad he underestimates the power of old-fashioned bathtubs and candlelight - on both himself and Faith. But a man wants more to offer the woman he loves than falling plaster and leaking roofs. Author Kathie DeNosky's pens a sparking romance in COWBOY BOSS. Faith's queasiness regarding creeping critters lends just the light note of levity to keep COWBOY BOSS a lively read. Faith's disillusion with marriage and her challenge to overcome the scars from the past neatly match Cooper's challenges. Once again DeNosky demonstrates a dazzling gift for creating a character driven tale with emotional depth balanced by the heart. Very highly recommended.
