The reader's decisions control the course of what happens when a plane crash leaves three friends stranded on a remote island inhabited by dinosaurs. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book has many extreme adventures. When I first saw the title, I was thinking that this would be a boring book. How could you make a "Dinosaur Island" exciting? Boy was I wrong. Edward Packard seems to write a lot of his books with enough depth to make it interesting for people as a whole, and yet keep his writing integrity, though I was a bit disappointed with "Fire on Ice" (#181 I think.) It starts off with you and two friends, Kyra and Todd, on a vacation to Australia from the US. As you are in flight, suddenly your plane crashes in the ocean and you and your two friends seem to be the only survivors. You have to decide whether to wait at the crash site or head for a nearby Kirin Island. Kirin Island has many interesting people including Arturo, Roseanne, and Mr. Lebeau. Depending on what you choose, you may experience quite a thrill. This book has more bad endings than I expected, but not all of them are bad. The endings all work well to make great scenarios. Even for the endings which are good though, there's almost always something not to be too happy about, or you do not know what happens to others when you make a certain choice(s). So if you are a happy go lucky person, this is probably not the book for you. I noticed a previous review mentioning that she was reading the book with her six year old. The Choose Your Own Adventure books that are about 114-122 pages long are written for teenagers and up mostly, though it's okay for children to read them if they like books with bad endings. A good book for her and for anyone who likes all good endings only is Fire on Ice #181 by Edward Packard. The only thing I didn't like about the book personally was that Ron Wing used the same exact illustrations on too many of the pages, otherwise it was quite well written. So, before you take your trip, don't forget your waterproof camera and life vest ;) There's more to this island that you think, not just dinosaurs, so you have to read to find out!

Dinosaur Island is a great book! I recomend you read it. In Dinosaur Island you choose your own adventure. Depending on your choice of actions you go to a diffrent page of the book. It all depends on YOU! That's why this book is so great. There are thirteen diffrendt endings and in each adventure there are a lot of choices. The ending can be good or bad depending on you. This book was overall both a learning book and a fun kids book for all ages. It showed you pictures and names of dinosaurs, and was really entertaining of escaping, dinosaur encounters, and the volcano. I would not want to be killed by the dinosaur or the volcano. I'm also glad this isn't real. But it's exciting, no matter what.

In these stories I know dinosaurs come back to life and do their busneiss like they should. But I'm glad they are really extinct because they might eat me!
