Dining Lean was extremely useful on my recent trip to AZ. I'm sure glad I bought it!

Must-have tool for anyone who eats out

This is a must-have for anyone who eats out! Whether you are watching your weight, carbohydrate intake, sodium or fat, this book will help you learn how to walk into any restaurant with confidence. Dr. Jo starts with the basics, then moves onto general guidelines for what the reader should pay attention to when dining out. The most memorable tip is advising readers to just cut 10 calories a day if they want to lose a pound in a year! Granted, this isn't a lot of weight loss, but just the knowledge that if you ADD a simple 10 calories a day to your diet, you will have GAINED a pound in the next year might help you see how simple it is to cut out 10, 50, maybe even 100 calories and lose TEN pounds in a year! Dr Jo then moves onto tips for meals, giving suggestions on how to order a healthy breakfast, then offers points to consider when eating American style dinners, and finally breaks down various ethnic cuisines, showing what to watch out for, what to order, and how to stick with your goals while eating at Middle Eastern, Asian, or Mexican restaurants, to name a few. The final section of the book is a listing of about 5,000 specific menu items for nearly 70 different facilities. What I like most about the book: Readers can actually see the size of ½ cup of pasta, or what the difference is between a one ounce and a four once bagel. I also like the `calorimeters', charts that show choices from lowest fat and calories to highest choices. Finally, the details for the ethnic restaurants are much better than I have ever seen in other books offering similar information. A great resource!

This is an excellent no nonsense book for dining out

I would really have to rank this book above many others when it comes to watching the wasteline in restaurants. This book gives many different popular restaurants, and general ethnic guidlines that so many different books lack. She gives calories, fat, and carbohydrate information. All is clear an concise. In addition to some pretty helpful charts, she shows you what servings really look like in terms of size, and calorie counts of many of our all time favorites. Rather than trying to give you a bad one size fits all approach, she gives wonderful guidelines that you can take with you most any place you can go.

Dining Lean

I loved this book. It not only gave calorie counts, etc for the fast food restaurants but gave me guidelines on foods in other popular cuisines. It helps me make educated selections at most of the places that we eat out. The pictures to show servings is also very useful so that you know what you are getting instead of having to guess.
