Every since I was a young buck, I've been obsessed with Dinah Shore, and only briefly fell out of love with her during her time with that scallywag Burt Reynolds. Bruce Cassiday's biography captures the perfect balance of reverence and gossip, worship and dirt, to create a three-dimensional portrait of one of TV's first and most influential women--a lady I like to think of as "Pre-Oprah." I recommend this book to anyone who has loved Dinah like I have, as well as to the younger generation, who are just getting to know her through late-night midsummer re-runs on TV-land and Trio, though believe those have been discontinued. Bravo Bruce Cassiday--continue the good work.
