The adventures of Robert Langdon 😅

It's been ages since I last read this! I remember reading the first Robert Langdon book. Read some articles regarding how it shakes the religion of some people. They even banned DB's novel in some countries then 😅

Muy Entretenido

Fortaleza digital, es la primera novela de Dan Brown publicada en 1998, los protagonistas de la historia son David Becker y Susan Fletcher, la trama consiste en la búsqueda de la clave para craquear un código indescifrable contenido en el programa fortaleza digital, que ni la súper computadora de la NSA Transltr no puede descifrar. Con un estilo muy simple pero que cautiva al lector, Fortaleza Digital es un libro con una buena trama, entretenido y fácil de leer.

Code Breaking

I can't believe this book got an average of 3 stars. It was an excellent book. The topic was an interesting one dealing with code breaking, which most people have no knowledge of, so just that makes it interesting. The book developes it's main charactors right away and then takes off. It's a page turner to the end without a clue to how it will end. It's a great adventure. If you have the last few chapters to read and it's 12midnight, you are guaranteed to stay up to find out the conclusion no matter what time you may have to get up the next day for work or whatever.

Exhilarating thriller

The more Dan Brown I read, the more I enjoy Dan Brown. The man is a master of the fast paced thriller and it is fun to watch his growth from one book to another even if I did begin my acquaintanceship with his blockbuster "The DaVinci Code." Brown's books always start fast and "Digital Fortress" is no exception. Ensei Tankado dies in a Seville plaza. He raises his hand, fingers outstretched . . . and dies. Susan Fletcher, a National Security Agency cryptographer is roused from her dreams first by a call from David Becker, her university professor boyfriend who tells her he has to postpone their planned weekend romantic retreat in order to fly off to an unknown destination. Seething and disappointed, her anger if interupted by a call from Commander Strathmore, her NSA boss asking - commanding - that she come in on this Saturday to help on an emergency project. It seems Tankado has launched an attack on NSA's most secret computers. From that point on, Brown takes you on a non-stop adventure - and it's fun. Brown's characters are well rounded and don't engage in super-heroics, though they do seem to catch more than their share of lucky breaks. But Brown's plotting carries you over those points so fast that you fail or simply don't want to notice them. For the thriller fan, "Digital Fortress" is an exhilarating read.Jerry

I loved it, and so did my son

I bought this book rather reluctantly, sure that it couldn't stand up to "Angels & Demons" and "The DaVinci Code". In less than fifteen minutes, I was hooked. I will grant that Susan Fletcher is a less likeable central character than Robert Langdon, but it was still a thriller.Even more impressive, my fifteen year old son loved it. The kid has never read anything except Harry Potter, but he devoured this book in three days. He would get so excited, he would actually yell out loud at every plot twist (let me tell you, that's alot of yelling). We had our first book discussion ever that didn't include the word "Hogwarts". I would love to thank Dan Brown for that gift.Even though I work on a computer all day, I can't verify whether he got the computer engineering right, but who cares? It's fiction, for crying out loud! I don't want to read a stinking manual, I want to be entertained. And "Digital Fortress" did that very well.

Better than Da Vinci Code

I don't understand why people are panning this book. I thought it was great. Far better than Deception Point and I actually enjoyed it more than Da Vinci Code. I'm not a computer tech person so maybe I missed some of the incorrect parts of the story. However the book was incredibly fast paced and extremely difficult to put down. Highly enjoyable.
