More Than a Beginner's Book

This book is a truly wonderful source of ideas, and a wonderful source of information on some of the programs a digital photographer might want or need. I'm not at all new to digital photography but I learned a great deal from the book, and got several invaluable ideas from it. I was also reminded of several programs which will make digital photography easier and more fun for me, my family, and my friends. If every definition isn't precise, if every single idea doesn't appeal to every sinlge reader, that's not the point. The immense value of this book is that anyone with an open mind *will* learn from it and will find at least several ideas she/he wants to incorporate into their own experience. It's one of the very best digital photography books I've read.

BEST of the lot, tried them all, Al T, Daytona Beach

Entered this wonderful Digital Photo realm a few months ago, got a good camera, scanner, and upgraded the computer, Must say, I tried several dummy/idiot books and found that I am neither, then got the "Digital Camera Solutions" book and off I went. This is a book written for real humans. The author is literate on the subject, the progression of topics is the way it should be, and it is loaded with color photos. The many photos really helped me. And, there is a continuing description of the various editing softwares (and filters) relative to the topic being discussed. There are so many "softwares" on the market, this truly assisted me. Bottom line, Georges knows his stuff, did his homework, and made a most literate contribution for those from beginner, to intermediate, to even the advanced user. And it is done, in a most realistic, easy to learn from, approach to Digital Photography, the title says it all......dis

Excellent for Beginners

This book should be called Digital Imaging Solutions, because it goes beyond the camera to thoroughly cover other digital processes, such as scanning, touch up work, storage and sharing. This book is PC-centric (not cross-platform as billed) and is ideal for users beginner to intermediate. The digitally uninitiated professional would also benefit.

I've been waiting for this book!

This is a marvelous book for both beginners and professionals. There is something for everyone, and I plan to buy several more copies for gifts. My instructor for my internet class plans to use it in teaching. The photography is excellent and Mr. George's many years and variety of experience is very evident.

Excellent choice for beginners!

I am new to digital photography and I read this book from cover to cover. Mr. Georges takes the reader through some basics of photography with ten traditional techniques of taking better pictures. He then discusses the points that are unique to digital images such as, file size, image compression, and more. My favorite chapter is chapter 6, Performing Digital Imaging Magic. Being able to manipulate images is the reason to go digital! In this chapter Mr. Georges shows some of the unique and fun techniques of turning ordinary photographs into wonderful images, even art. I found the color photographs inspiring, and there are few pages without at least one.
