Digger

The book I chose to do my book review on was Digger. I enjoyed reading Digger because it gives you a different perspective of the city. Written by Peter Burchard this book takes place in New York City in the year 1871. Digger Pinch is your average newsboy living in the city. Digger witnesses a fire and saves a young girl about his age out of the fire. Digger is pretty suspicious about a man named Collins he thinks one of his gang members might have started the fire . Digger starts to talk to a reporter and a man who runs a bar and is against Collins The bar owner gives Digger two tickets to go see a show with the girl he at the fire. On their way back from the show they are jumped by Collins gang, but to Diggers luck one of his loyal friends comes to help the two out. Digger then finds a fuse in one of the boys pockets, but the boy won't speak. To their horror the boy who helped was killed the next day by the same gang. Digger then meets a man named Jackson who is against Collins. The man says he is going to go meet an old friend at a pier. Digger and the rest of his friends know it's a set up to kill the man, and with a little help from the police and a reporter they might be able to catch Collins in action. Digger is a great book for teenagers, because this is from their point of view. This book is enjoyable because of its suspense and action throughout the whole book. I hope you enjoyed the overview of Digger and that now you want to go get a copy and see if Collins can get away one more time.

Digger was an awesome book! I loved it, and I agree that if you like Newsies you should read this book. (I love Newsies!) Digger has an amazing plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I just wish Digger was real and single! I totally got so into this book that I read it in one sitting! I've even learned to talk in a NY accent! READ THE BOOK!
