Diffordsguide to Cocktails: Volume 5 (Diffordsguide)
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
New to cocktails, I actually bought this book initially because of its guide to cocktail glasses, but I was immediately taken by the images and the simple, easy to follow instructions. Each drink is perfectly photographed, with garnish, and in the proper glass; which also simplifies locating a drink, especially when I can't remember the name. I have a small collection of others behind the bar of our home pub, but there is no question that this is the best--favored by me, and enjoyed by our guests. I'm looking forward to the next edition.
The best cocktail guide-- period.

Simon Difford publishes the best cocktail guide-- period. This book is for anyone who wants to learn anything about cocktails. Difford's way is the right way to make drinks. I know this book is good, because even friends of mine who don't drink want to shake up some cocktails after they flip through this guide. It's a beautifully composed and complete reference, as each drink is accompanied by a picture, instructions, comments and a rating. The index of ingredients is also first rate, and it quickly points the way to the drinks you can make with the spirits you have on hand. The Difford's Guides need a little more attention to detail in the editing department, but everything else is so good, you will readily forgive their occassional misprints. If you want to start making great cocktails, start right here with this amazing guide. Even if you don't drink, buy this for your coffee table. It's just that good.

Excellent cocktail reference guide

I love Difford's guides and the hardcover guide to cocktails is the ultimate reference for the master mixologist. This book has given us a lot of great ideas for new drinks to serve at parties or just try on our own. It has a spot atop our bar because it also provides hours of reading enjoyment...especially when we're trying new drinks from it! I highly suggest you purchase this book if you like having fun, trying new things and mixing up alcoholic beverages that are very, very tasty!
Best cocktail book in my collection
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
This is a FANTASTIC cocktail book. The layout is beautiful and it's got some amazing recipes. Mindblowingly complete. Drinks are listed alphabetically, with easy directions and a photo of each cocktail. Want to find a specific drink featuring a key ingredient? Feel like something with Chambord but not sure what? Flip to the back section and troll by ingredient, then find it in the book (alphabetically, remember?). Staggeringly beautiful design. If I could have one book in my collection, this would be it. I have a few more than THAT, though!
