Differential Diagnosis for the Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Excellent format, info - easy to access and read - everything you need to know (and more) as a PT to screen patients that may not be appropriate for PT services or who may experiencing a new onset of sx that require emergent care or medical care.

Beyond Assessment

I have not yet thoroughly read James Meadow's Diferential Diagnosis for Orthopedic Physical Therapist but a quick scan through the book showed me that he provides some scientically proven techniques of management of musculoskeletal diseases faced by PTs in clinical setting. I feel his book is a must have for any orthopedic Physical Therapist.

I don't Think Bob (the 2nd reviewer) has read the book...

I do not believe that Bob has read the book. This book is one of the best books I have read for clinical reasoning related to differential diagnosis in Physical Therapy. The exams that are detailed are based on the great Orthopedic MD, James Cyriax, who the author actually worked with early in his career. Anyone looking to improve their skills would benefit from this book purchase. I have had the privelege of meeting Mr. Meadows, and have taken many classes from him. He is an excellent clinician and his book is an extension of his skills

A MUST READ FOR EVERY ORTHOPAEDIC PHYSICAL THERAPIST

This textbook is an excellent reference for differential diagnosis of neuro-muscloskeletal problems encountered by the outpatient physical therapist. The book has several informational chapters that review anatomy, physiology, pathology, examination and treatment of the entire spine by anatomical region. The author is a founder faculty member of the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. This text is excellently referenced. What makes the book even more unique is the case studies presented in an critical analysis format that challenges the reader to test their differential diagnostic skills and treatment approaches. This book is a must read for novice and expert therapists alike.
