Oh, the madness!!

I haven't laughed this hard since reading the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella! Laura Wolf is undoubtedly an entertaining, funny, talented writer, and she had me in stitches more times than I can count. I highly enjoyed Diary of a Mad Bride and can't wait to read her next book.Meet Amy Thomas -- a self-proclaimed anti-marriage posterwoman. I mean, why fix it when it isn't broke, right? Amy is wildly in love with Stephen and the marriage question hasn't even come up, which suits her just fine. Why turn herself into a crazy woman with all those nutty, self-absorbed, time-consuming wedding plans anyway? Then out of the clear, blue sky, Stephen proposes and opens up a whole new world for Amy. One she didn't even know she wanted. Follow Amy on her hilarious (I mean, of the knee-slapping kind) journey from normal, satisfied woman to harried wedding planner of the worst kind. And relish every step of the way.Written in easy to read diary form, Diary of a Mad Bride is addictive and breezy and the pages will fly right by -- which can be a bad thing since you really don't want the book to end! Amy is endearing, her two friends, Mandy and Anita, are priceless in their own crazy way, and the families-in-law are almost too much to bear. Prepare to laugh and your mood to be lifted -- this novel is the best medicine. Looking forward to reading futher Mad adventures.

So True to Life!

Anyone who had recently gotten married or is planning on getting married soon should read this book for a good laugh. The events chronicled by Sarah in this book ring so true to life. For those who have gotten married, you'll get a good laugh out of how some of these same things happened to you. And for those who are planning the big day, it's nice to know that you're not alone and you will be able to relate to the main character. This book puts a funny spin on real life wedding planning events. I highly recommend this book to all women who are married or hope to be married someday...and ESPECIALLY to bridesmaids-to-be who haven't been married yet - so that way you can get a glimpse of what the bride-to-be is going through so you can be more understanding and help her keep it together until the wedding day.

Funny AND True

This is one of the funniest books I have read. I too read it when I was planning my wedding and I could completely relate to the bride. I developed strange obsessions and a weird wedding tunnel vision. I guess it might seem shallow - but hey, it's a wedding, spending a house deposit on a party and white dress is shallow (but somehow worth it proving all weddings are insane)! I now buy this book for everyone I know who becomes engaged.

Great!!!!!!!!!

The other reviewers have pretty much covered my feelings about this book. It's light, its funny, and its true to life. The bride starts out sensible and sane - not wanting to be like any of her friends who have gotten married. She thinks all she needs to keep her perspective is a good list and maybe one bridal book to refer to.She makes the list, buys the bridal book, then adds to the list. She has to change the wedding date so it doesn't interfere with basketball season (or any other sport) and slowly loses her sense of humor, her friends and even her groom (temporarily). Her wedding dress is a story in itself and the final madness seems to hinge on the search for wedding shoes!I enjoyed the book immensely - could there maybe be a sequel??

Very amusing!

Got this book on a whim, needing some fun, light reading, and I've been giggling since page one! Only read this in public if you don't mind people staring at you funny for lauging out loud...The back cover reads, "...for anyone who has ever been a bride, is about to become a bride, or suffered the sheer indignity of appearing in public in the world's ugliest bridesmaid dress...." Include in this any single woman who has suffered knowing a bride-to-be who can talk about nothing other than the up-coming wedding plans! In other words, I think any female will be amused with Amy's story...
