Nguvu and Maiti are young royal brothers, as close as can be, living in the Serengeti, set in the universe of Lewis. They live far from his kingdom, however. Maiti, the older brother, brags about becoming king one day and getting to wear the sacred talisman of the Kings. As his ego increases, he becomes more and more resentful of his brother, until one day a fight causes their father to cut Maiti off from the Kingdom and pass the talisman on to Nguvu, marking Maiti's head with the black cross of shame, meaning he could never be King and everyone will know it. This causes the cub to be murderous and evil, and when he becomes an adult, he does something unspeakable.
