A Good Book

I read this book and I am nine. Dewberry is so smart she can be a doctor someday. Dewberry is hungry for knowledge. She gets into trouble and Mother Nature has to fix it. I like Dewberry because we all get into trouble sometimes. I learned what a grebe bird is from this book. Snapdragon and Primrose don't get into trouble but they are with Dewberry. This book has color pictures but it is a big story too. It has eight chapters. I liked reading this book and adding it to my book collection.

Treasure Hunt Gone Bad

Dewberry is hunting for something important, but when she finds it, things go pretty wrong, not only for her but for the entire human race. I liked the suspense of this book and the tension of knowing Dewberry was heading into trouble. We knew, but we couldn't stop her. I hope I don't spoil anything by saying Mother Nature is the real hero of this book, and she's pretty clever here too. I liked her solution to the problem. Another fun fairy team episode, and one I definitely liked.

Admiration of the Characters

The fairies of "Fairy Chronicles" are growing up. I found myself admiring Dewberry for her determination even whilst admonishing her in my mind for being careless. Admiration of Primrose and Snapdragon came easily as well because they did exercise some caution even as they were caught up in Dewberry's enthusiasm. I admire the older mentor fairies for their actions including making sure Dewberry learned from her mistake. I found Dewberry and the Lost Chest of Paragon to be much different than the previous books of this series. I enjoyed this change of pace and continue to look forward to more serial fairy adventure. On Making Mistakes

We all make mistakes. This book is an interesting reflection on that human characteristic. Dewberry is so eager and ambitios, yet lacks a "precaution sensor" and plunges into her fairy adventure without guard and without the supervision of her fairy mentor. She fails to consult her fairy hand book as well. This book deviates from the others in the series in that way, and Dewberry pays the price for acting before thinking when she unleashes something horrible on the world while attemptin to do a good thing. I liked her friends being uneasy with her actions but going along with her anyway as this often happens with friendship and peer pressure. I am most pleased that she received sanctions for her actions, and I think they were just. This book is a well crafted reflection on humans making mistakes.

A Hard Lesson

Dewberry learns a hard lesson in this one. She makes a mistake but isn't able to fix it. She even has to suffer consequences for her actions. We had fun debating if her punishment was in line with the magnitude of what happened. We all had different opinions about this. Overall a serious fairy adventure and not particularly light reading but this is what we have come to expect of our Fairy Chronicles fairies. We did enjoy this book and it made us think.
