Someone who will be directing a choir someday

Devotional Warm-Ups for the Church Choir: Preparing to Lead Others in Worship (Training for Leadership in Worship Ser)As someone who is going to begin sometime soon in leading a choir in worship as well as in song someday this is a great book for even the future choral Director like myself. There are some really great warm ups in there and it is really great either for the advanced Director as well as for the beginner like myself. So I highly recommend this book to everyone whether you're a beginner or a person who has been doing this for a long time.

Excellent devotional for choirs...

The first thing I did when I started as choir director was look for a simple and easy devotional that I could interject into choir practice. I needed something that was not too involoved and fairly quick to get through since practice time is so limited. Osbeck does an excellent job of combining biblical concepts of music ministry with sound theology. The result is nothing less than a choir that actually understands 'why' they sing! Praise! It has made all the difference in the world and our numbers have even begun to grow. I especially like the way the author has coincided each weeks devotional with the church (liturgical) calendar. This is particularly important in those protestant churches like mine that pay very little attention to the liturgical year. By highlighting important church celebrations, the devotionals bring a new sense of identity to Christians who have lost the meaning of who they are and where they have come from. Use this or at least some kind of a devotional for your choir practice. Your ministry deserves more than just meeting to sing.
