The cast of characters include Bigfoot, an old guru, a decadent rockstar, a teenage whore, a literate postman, a slick sci-fi novelist, nuclear scientists . . . How could you not like this book!Sri Rainy, an old holy man, builds his monastery on a mountain in Colorado and befriends the Bigfoot who lives there. The unlikely duo enjoy fishing together. From the Bigfoot, Sri Rainy learns of a secret government project to store nuclear waste in the hard granite of the mountain. Together they try to thwart this nightmare. . . . Meanwhile Sri Rainy must search for a disciple to pass on his ancient wisdom to, minister to the silly people who attend his monastery, and resist the advances of the innkeeper's daughter.Kirts has a real talent for naming his characters: Montclief, Mortimer Snerd, Lute Sims, Norman Ungerer, to mention a few. My favorite part is when one of his students is accidently catapulted into Buddhist enlightenment and begins to glow.
