This is a nifty little production that would have made a good half-hour series pilot.
An undersea laboratory uses sonar to discover that we are not alone. So, they sent for the authorities as a precaution. Naturally, we have a love triangle. Two people bound by a shared tragedy, each blaming the other, the past itself clouded, unresolved, and charged. A would-be love story if the two were not leery of entanglement. A doctor who is more interested in testing than saving lives, you can see that again in “The Thing from Another World” (1951).
Remember that this is 1966; yet the instruments look hokey for the time. The movie could stand some remastering. We also get ridiculous miniatures. Some sort of monsters looking like fish in a people suit. Some of the underwater scenes were really underwater, as Wende Wagner(1941-1997) was an underwater stunt double for Lloyd Bridges on his hit series Sea Hunt (1958).
