Who Can she Trust?

Desperate Measures is the first book in the Smuggler's Cove Series, although some of the characters were introduced in an earlier book, Keeping Guard. Samantha Rogers and her son are on the run, again! Her estranged husband is dead, she has been set up to take the fall, and she is sure no one will take her word over that of a dirty cop. So she flees every time he might be getting close. When John Wagner, without knowing her history, offers her a place to live and a job in Smuggler's Cover, she decides to take it. But from the very beginning, bad things begin happening and she doesn't trust John enough to confide in him. Are these things happening because Billy has found them or are they happening because someone wants the land that John bought? And John has a history of his own that causes guilt and trust issues.
