Pentecost does an incredible job at diving to the heart issues that Jesus focused on as he made disciple of the twelve. He begins by describing what a disciple is and how we are all called to discipleship. He lays out the process of one who starts by being curious in Christ and moves to total commitment as a disciple of Jesus. Pentecost then goes on to describe some of the key elements of being a disciple. He does this by providing contextual background and exegetical insights into some key passages of Scripture. He packs a lot of information in short chapters dealing with the issues. This book is worth the money and time spent reading it. He does not waste any thought or point by beating it to death and giving too many illustrations. This book is for everyone who wants to learn about the heart of discipleship. I have found that I can use it as a main grid for discipleship and as I read other books I can attach what I learn from them to this books teachings on discipleship.
