DESERTED explores newspaper accounts of 1263 military soldiers who intentionally fled from their units across Great Britain from 1726-59. Similar to police-issued All Points Bulletins (APBs), the details provided in these articles include name of the accused, aged, personal features, (in many cases) birthplace, and any additional attributes the issuing regimental agents thought necessary to include. The supplied accounts remain unchanged, as they appear in the original newspapers, and it is with the greatest of hope that the reader will find this era, the eighteenth century, to be among the most fascinating of times in British military history.

Excerpt: "Also deserted out of said regiment between Corke and Limerick ROGER PENNY born in Hill-Martin in Wiltshire, about 22 years of age, 5 foot 7 Inches and a Quarter high, fair Complexion, light brown Hair, wears a gray coat, a dark brown Waistcoat with flat brass buttons, and a Doe Skin pair of Breeches. Whoever gives Notice to the military commanding Officer at Limerick, or to John Archer, Esq; in Dublin, shall have 30 Shillings reward for each of them."
