Before Thoroughbred, Ashleigh Griffen lived at Edgardale, her family's farm in Kentucky. Nothing could be more perfect than life on the farm with her family, her favorite horses, and her best friend, Mona. Ashleigh loves helping with the horses--and dreaming of becoming a jockey someday... Aladdin has to run Ashleigh has never been more excited--her favorite horse, Aladdin's Treasure, is running in the Kentucky Derby But just before race day Aladdin has an accident while his jockey is breezing him. Now, not only is Aladdin terrified of the jockey, but the jockey is terrified of Aladdin Only Ashleigh is capable of putting horse and rider back together again. But with the Derby just hours away, can she bridge their trust in time?
This book is filled with excitment! I'll tell you a little about it Aladdin's Treasure is a black colt and his owners are thinking about running him in the Kentucky Derby. But before the race Aladdin is badly spooked and throws his rider and it's up to Ashleigh to convince his owners not to scratch him from the Derby. Derby Day is really interesting and I recommend it to any horse lover!
A Great Book All Around!

This book was great! :) I liked it a lot, especially that Ashleigh helped solve the problem to make him run better. But it is a little unrealistic that a little girl figured it out, when these top-notch trainers were stumped. But still, congrats to Chris Platt on a great book! I like the Ashleigh Series, although if you've read Ashleigh's Diary you inevitably know what happens in the end. When is it going to end? Not that I'm waiting or anything... Well anyway Derby Day is a good book! Email me if you read the series too! JoHorse1@yahoo.com

This book was a wonderful edition to the Ashleigh series. Both Ashleigh and Rhoda are faced with confidence problems and they help each other out. Although, in the early Thoroughbred books, Ashleigh says she has never been to a track. And here, there is a Derby winner. But this book was one of the best books in Thoroughbred OR Ashleigh series. Keep up the good work! Signed- a faithful reader
A Great Book!

I think this was an excellent edition to the Thoroughbred Ashleigh series! The way that Rhonda lost faith in herself after falling off Aladin was just stunning, because after all I have fallen off a horse twice when it bolted and even than I did not lose faith in myself. I have read the other books in the Ashleigh series and this one was by far the best! It was very well written and I think that Joanna Campbell should continue writing about Aladin. I have 27 books in the Thoroughbred series and my friend Torri collects them too so we would like to say keep up the great work Joanna and THOROUGHBREDS RULE!

I thought that this book was well written and expressed a good message. Ashleigh and Rhoda are faced with confidence problems, and one helps the other in turn. Although I'm not quite sure how all of these books would fare in a Thoroughbred Books timeline...
