Go Deltora!

While I realize that the eight set is arriving soon, I still love the convenience of the quad style. As for the story itself, these are enchanting and should be classics as far as fantasy, any fantasy, is concerned. Emily Rodda, with her simple-but-tight writing, creates a vivid world of magic and adventure with larger-than-life characters with whom one can still relate and imaginative puzzles and plotlines. Great introductory fantasy for kids, any fan will continue to like these forever.

Handy to have them altogether

I went for years seeing these books around without ever bothering to read them until a friend forced me to. And I was more than pleasantly surprised. This is an incredible fantasy series--that small kids can appreciate. And yet I've seen "adult" fantasy books that aren't nearly as well-written or well-crafted. I like this edition because having four books together rids us of the necessity of having to waste time getting the next book out.

My son loves this book

I must say, I and my son are very pleased with this book. Since he received it, he hates to put it down. It arrived in a quick manner and in great shape. The author has really captured that "something" to interest my 8 yr old son. It had been hard to find a book that he would really enjoy, and not put down with lack of interest after the first chapter. He loves the characters in this book. My thanks to Emily Rodda for helping to make my son a more avid reader.

Great book

My 9-year-old son (4th grade) received this book for Christmas. He read the entire thing within a week. He loves it!

Great for kids

I read this book and was amazed. Had I been younger, it would have been fabulous and five-star, but it was good, even at my age, and for any parent looking for a good book to get their kid, even if he'she isn't a big fan of reading, this is it. The books are short and fast moving, with quite a bit of dialogue. This 1-4 books book is great too, though it doesn't matter if they are bought together or separately. It depends on how much you want to put in front of you/your kid at one time. So, for parents, why should you get this book for your kid? Its hard not to like, it's fast, and the books are short, Its not challenging, and both girls and boys will like it. Why you would not like it. If you are in middle school or up, its still enjoyablbe, but its very predictable, and the one character, third=person limited p. of view is too narrow. You want to get inside the minds of the other characters. The characters aren't detailed, nit=picky developed. While perfect for kids, they lack complex emotion. The danger also, that is supposed to be in these books, while great againf for young kids, is rather cheezy. It's still great for all ages, though. For the young group, its the 'best story ever written', and for the older group, its amusing and entertaining, the book you borrow from your younger brother or sister when you need something to pass the time.
