Deep Longing of the Soul is a sweet historical romance in the Brothers of Belle Fourche series by Kari Trumbo. Having listened to the first two books in the collection I was anxious for this third one and was not disappointed. The author has captured well the era of the setting (1900, South Dakota) and the emotions and actions of her characters. They are realistic and relatable and I was drawn quickly into their story and enjoyed watching the romance between Anne and Eli develop. Anne, a feisty English nurse and Eli, an injured rancher, both have things in their pasts that haunt them. Will they be able to move on from the past to have a future together? Although third in the series, it is easily a stand-alone story but I'd recommend reading the first two books as well. It is interesting to see the characters from the previous books and what has been happening with them. Readers of historical romance books will not want to miss this one. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a review and the opinions are my own. The narrator, J. Scott Bennett did a great job telling Anne and Eli's story which made for an enjoyable listening experience. I am so glad there are more books in this series as I look forward to reading more about the brothers of Belle Fourche and the women they come to love.
