Very "Hot" Read

Wow, Alison has done it again with the next episode of her SG-5 series. Some very sexy and hot sex scenes. The shower scene and the pearls. WOW!

Fast-paced and Enjoyable

Alison Kent's got a winner with "Deep Breath," the latest in her SG-5 series. I hadn't read the previous books (one is buried in the TBR-Pile-That-Will-Not-Die), but that was definitely not a hinderance to enjoying this. The story starts off strong with Georgia McLain on the trail of a file she hopes will be able to prove her father wasn't guilty of the crime for which he was sent to prison. In the best suspense tradition, Georgia isn't the only one after the file and her attempt to grab it sets into motion a chain of events that brings several of the parties together in a diner along a Texas highway. Suddenly, Georgia has more than just proving her father's innocence at stake in finding the file and her only ally is Harry van Zandt -- whom she doesn't know is a) after the file himself, and b) an agent with the Smithson Group. If this sounds like tried and true suspense plotting, it's not. The writing is crisp and fast-moving, drawing you right into the story and not letting go. Georgia's got secrets, Harry's got secret -- and just about everyone they have to deal with has secrets of their own. Despite an attraction only aggravated (yes, that's the word) by proximity, they spend most the book talking past one another because they aren't being honest with one another. When the honesty does come, it's at the moment when the stakes are highest and success depends on Georgia and Harry being able to trust one another. This was a great read for me, and I actually had to force myself to put the book down about 80 pages from the end because I needed to go to sleep and I knew that if I didn't put it down, I wasn't going to get to sleep until I finished. It's a ticking clock story, with Georgia and Harry up against more than one deadline that keeps them moving and Kent brings this home to the reader by marking the beginning of each chapter with a time stamp. You can feel the movement, which is one of the reason the story is so hard to put down; you're caught up in the rollercoaster. Definite recommendation for this, with only minor quibbles here and there, such as a subplot between Georgia's brother Finn and Tracy, a waitress at the diner where he's being held captive. In that instant, it just didn't work for me -- not enough to diminish my enjoyment the story, and perhaps it stood out because everything else worked so well. My quibbles, though, are not enough to keep me from anticipating the next installment.

HOT!!!

Georgia McLain is a treasure hunter. she lives a vagabond life traveling and looking for antiquities that her clients desire. But, now she is looking for her own treasure. One she hopes will clear her dead fathers name. The scandal that sent her father to jail has haunted Georgia and his deathbed wish that she find the dossier that will keep the story in the headlines and this quest consumes her. But she is not the only one hunting for this artifact and when fate delivers her into the hands of handsome Harry Van Zandt she has to wonder if she will be able to keep her head while trying to keep her heart safe. Harry Van Zandt is an SG-5 operative who needs to find the dossier on the TotalSky scandal. He knows his best bet at finding the document is by pairing up with Georgia McLain. Georgia is a strong woman and she speaks to a heart he has worked hard to keep in check. Together they race against time to find the document that Georgia needs to save her brother and hopefully clear her fathers name. But what happens when the chemistry between them explodes? They are walking a dangerous line and no one is more aware of that than Harry. This is another sexy SG-5 read by Ms. Kent. Harry is a total Alpha hero and the reader will fall a little in love with this guy. Georgia is a unique character and a perfect match for Harry. This is a fast-paced read that includes plenty of action, sexual tension, and interesting secondary characters. A few more answers are given as to who and what Spectra IT is...and the readers appetite is wetted with a very good cliff hanger. I can't wait for the next installment to this entertaining series. If you are new to this series...fear not this is a strong stand alone read...but be forewarned you will be eager to pick up the previous titles!

Another Kent Winner

Deep Breath is another sensational tale from the SG-5 team by Alison Kent. Georgia McLain is on a quest to clear her father of treason charges after he died in prison. She knows if she finds General Arthur Duggin's Totalsky dossier that it will clear her fathers name and she can start to live her life. Her first attempt to retrieve the file lands her in jail and on her way to her second attempt she becomes involved in a hostage situation at a local dinner. This new threat sends her to retrieve it for another party but the hostage taker sends a man from the dinner along to help her as he holds her brother captive. Harry Van Zandt had been following Georgia to retrieve the dossier for his boss at the Smithson Group. He keeps this tidbit of information to himself as he is dragged into helping Georgia retrieve the document. As he gets to know Georgia his feelings of that this is just another assignment begin to change. This woman is strong, quick witted and hot. She has invaded his soul. Georgia is used to depending on herself so letting Harry in really takes some work on her part. But Harry is different then any other man she has ever known. He makes her want more than just a quick affair. Harry just makes her want. Deep Breath is a complex and vastly layered story. The characters though they have only know each other a short time, circumstances force the relationship on the fast track. The dialogue is fast-paced, the chemistry between Harry and Georgia is steamy. It was a wonderful read, couldn't put it down once I started it. Kudos.

Wonderful suspense from Alison Kent

After Georgia McLain's father dies in prison, she practically dedicates her life to proving his innocence; she is determined to get her hands on the dossier of Gen. Arthur Duggin, certain that it will contain evidence necessary to clear her father's name. Her search for crucial information has taken her many places, most recently a jail cell. After her brother, Finn, bails her out of her most recent bind, they stop at a diner where their day goes from bad to worst when they find themselves in a middle of a deliberate hostage situation. The hostage taker, one Charlie Casto, is demanding that Georgia attend an auction of Gen Duggin's mementos and steal the dossier. Georgia must return to the diner with the dossier within three days in order for her brother and the other hostages to stay alive. The Smithson Group's Harry van Zandt happens to be in the diner and is ordered to go with Georgia to retrieve the dossier. What Casto and Georgia do not know is that Harry is after the elusive dossier as well. Georgia is an independent woman who is not pleased at having Harry forced upon her, even if he is the most gorgeous man she has ever laid eyes on. Harry, on the other hand, is quietly accepting of his role in attending the auction with Georgia, seeming almost eager to help her out. He soon realizes that Georgia is a very intelligent woman, with a biting wit and his interest in her quickly goes beyond the retrieval of the General's file. Georgia is thankful for Harry's help and over the course of their three days together, finds herself falling hard for this man who is unlike any other man she knows. The chemistry between Georgia and Harry is intensely passionate from the start, and their simply being together is enough to spark fiery emotion. Their intricate plan to get the General's file as well as the players involved are excellently and cleverly written. Alison Kent is quickly becoming the master at writing action-filled romance, or is that romance-filled action? Either way, she knows how to wrap suspense, action, and scorching romance into a tidy package, complete with characters that are always intelligent, loyal, and wonderfully capable of making you wish for more when you turn that last page.
