PLOT: Shakespearean actor Abercrombie Lewker takes off to Wales for a climbing holiday after a season of performing. On the way he picks up a young woman hiking along the road and discovers they are headed for the same place. Once at their destination they join a climbing party. When one of the climbers dies in a fall Lewker suspects it wasn't an accident and teams up with his new friend to investigate the death before alerting the local police to his suspicions. REVIEW: a very pleasant writing style, the interesting background of rock climbing in Wales, an intelligent amateur detective and the usual cast of suspects make this a rewarding reading experience. It was interesting how the detecting was done and laid out and the information about climbing was both interesting and integral to the plot (and the map of the terrain helped, too.)
