Willy wants to cheer his best friend, Carlos, up. And what better way to do so than a Christmas visit from Santa Claus himself? But when Santa answers Willy's e-mail pleading with him to visit the 19th floor of their inner-city apartment building, he doesn't quite know what is in store for him. Yin and Chris Soentpiet, the author-illustrator pair who created the ALA notable "Coolies," bring us a heartwarming and modern Christmas story with the lush illustrations that Soentpiet fans have come to love.
A wonderful new Christmas story. It doesn't sugar-coat the realities of a child having to be in a wheelchair, or of urban life, yet it is still positive and heart-warming. The two friends secretly trying to help each other lends a Gift of the Magi touch.
a Christmas story for city people

I loved this book, the illustrations are great, and the text by Yin is easy to read, but not 'cutesy'. It's a heartwarming story, and will appeal to most children. I think the appeal might be greater for adults - we can see the basic goodness in the story.
