Perfect Little Gem

Alternately sweet, sad, and surprisingly funny ("what is that, a squid?"), this gem of a book portrays the forgotten trials and tribulations of deaf elephants. Plighted by their companions and shunned by zoos, our heros still manage to fall in love, share their thoughts, and face the world with grace and dignity. It'll take you a minute to read, and less time to decide you need to buy 10 more for your friends.

"Deaf Elephants" is a picture book for gentle persons of all ages, based on a little fib about elephants that you'll quickly forgive. The simply told story of their lives is filled out by the author's ink drawings, swinging easily from the elegance of the "Little Prince" illustrations to goofy humor. This is a wonderful book full of love and encouragement. I'm sending it to all of my friends.
