a teacher's sick day...

I felt awful... A darling student gave me the flu, but I have never been so glad to have a sick day (and the leisure time to read)! I read Deadly Sexy in less than 24 hours... between medications, naps, coughs and sneezes. It was so good I couldn't doze off to sleep properly! I had on my glasses, the book in one hand, and soft tissues for my runny nose in the other. Beverly, you have done it again! Cannot wait to read Jewel (especially since Vivid is my favorite)!

Grown & Sexy

Beverly Jenkins does it again! Well written from start to finish. Passion was HOT! Having read her historical romances, I really appreciated the 'authenticity' of JT's character. She was a modern day version of her strong/confident/smart great grandmothers. Reese was adorable. Persistent and sexy as hell. Liked the fact that the characters were 'grown' in their actions. No pretense, just adults in a relationship enjoying each other. Can't wait for the stories about the brothers and hopefully, dad too. Beverly, I love the way you connect the historical and modern day characters.

"She's Got Skillz...."

Beverly Jenkins has mesmerized us with a strong heroine by the name of Jessi Teresa Blake, aka "Lady Blake" and J.T as she reveals the many dimensions of her personality. J.T. is an agent to numerous sports figures, and is infamous for her skills in negotiations for their livelihood. Traveling from wooing a potential client in her luxurious Lexus, she encounters car trouble on a busy highway and her knight in shining armor happens to be a "supposedly" snug jeans wearing truck driver by the name of Reese Anthony. Upon her rescue, Reese offers her delicious cherries as well as a fantasy of what could be as she inconspicuously sneak peeks at this fine specimen. Their second meeting challenges both of their scruples, being that they have a conflict of interest, and she learns that you can NOT judge a book by the cover. Their chemistry is so dynamic that such successful, strong-willed, and intelligent adults tend to deviate from the beaten path for a struggle that entails gunplay, trickery, and life threatening moments. As the story continues to unfold at such an energetic, suspenseful and drama-filled pace you're sitting on the edge of your seat, holding your breath, anticipating the ending with the answer to...can their love for each other overcome all of the obstacles that are precariously thrown at them? Ms. Jenkins mos def delivers with such a simplistic yet intriguing style that she seems to thrive on the assurance that her loyal fans will zealously follow her down the yellow brick road! No doubt, she definitely knows where the Wizard of Oz resides! As always, Tazzye has one more comment....what's up with those brothers and that handsome father getting a little love connection. Can't blame me for trying! Kudo's to you today, tomorrow and always!

Awesome Read

I just completed "Deadly Sexy" and I'm in awe. Beverly Jenkins' style of writing is both invigorating and charming. I especially enjoy her historical love stories but "Deadly Sexy" was also a breath of fresh air. What a wonderful story filled with a collage of topics: admiration, love, dedication, triumph and most importantly family. The love affair between JT and Reese was whimsical. The two hit it off as soon as they laid eyes upon each other. I appreciated the way they respected each other's feelings. Reese wasn't intimated by JT's wealth or success. Reese being a jack of all trades was equally successful. The way Reese and the rest of the Anthony men astonished JT with their hidden talents was amusing. "Deadly Sexy" is certainly worthy of five golden stars and more. I now wish to read any and everything Beverly has written. I'm off to Barnes & Noble to purchase "Topaz" next.

All the Reasons to Love... Just One More Time

Jessi Teresa Black is Los Angeles' toughest and sexiest sports agent. JT or Lady T is able to negotiate contracts, quote players' stats, play a mean game of Playstation Madden football and keep her sometime, overprotective, multimillion dollar, clients in line without breaking a sweat. Every available bachelor, and some married men, have tried to win the hand of Lady T but no one has been able to match wits with her until she meets Reese Anthony. While driving an eighteen-wheeler on California's I-5 to San Francisco, Reese stops to help what appeared to be a damsel in distress. He quickly learned that not only was she beautiful but she was also very knowledgeable of sports and cars. Reese offered JT a ride back to Oakland and the sparks immediately began to ignite. But, there was more to Reese. He was not just your average truck driver. He was actually an ex-Chicago cop turned attorney, who is also the CEO of his family's international trucking company. Reese was also offered a position as head of the NFL's Security division to investigate a murder. Little did he know, he would also have to protect JT as well. Beverly Jenkins has put together another winning story of two very confident people who must learn to trust and take a chance on each other. The reader immediately becomes involved in the romance of Reese and JT from their first encounter. Ms. Jenkins was able to build their relationship as Reese tried to solve a murder that could cause great damage to the NFL league. The bonus to the story - a sound track from Frankie Beverly and Maze. Throughout the story, Frankie Beverly and Maze was referenced with his golden voice. Ms. Jenkins fans will also love that she has connected both characters to previous characters, Jessi Rose and Griffin Blake, and The House of LeVeq, from her historical novels. You can not go wrong with reading any book by Beverly Jenkins and music accompanied by Frank Beverly. Reviewed by: Priscilla C. Johnson APOOO Bookclub
