Saying Earl Kiddering is rich is like saying Babe Ruth hit a couple of home runs, but saying he's dead is more accurate. A month after the billionaire drowns in his own swimming pool, Earl's great-niece hires private investigator Chase Michael DeBarlo to find Kiddering's missing will while other family members squabble over the fortune. Dark family secrets are uncovered during Chase's investigation, including adultery, and tax evasion -- and Earl's death continues to look less like an accident. In the meantime, Chase feels obligated to help his mother's friend, a lounge singer who fears she is being stalked. He reluctantly takes the case, fearing it may infringe on his time with the Kiddering case -- and it does. Deadly Heirs explores the loyalties (and disloyalties) of family bonds, exposes a private investigator's time-management crisis, and uncovers the corruption of a mysterious art market.
I just finished the book "Deadly Heirs" and absolutely loved it. It was hard to put down. A wonderful plot with many twist and turns that kept you guessing until the end. The characters, the story line and ending where well written. The interaction between the characters, especially between the P.I. Chase Michael DeBarlow and Detective Len Stevens, are absolutely wonderful. I loved the subtle humor that was thrown into the story. I am anxiously awaiting the release of his next book. Mike Ricksecker is a very talented author. I hope he will continue the story of Chase Michael DeBarlow and write many more books. I wish him the best of luck for the future.
Summer reading...

Deadly Heirs is the first novel published by Mike Ricksecker, and in my opinion is an excellent offering in the mystery genre. He does a great job with character development, and gives you an in-depth glimpse into the hardships and adventures of the characters. The intricately woven plot thickens and builds in each chapter, drawing you into the story as it energetically pushes towards the climax. Knowing that the author resides in New England gave the book authenticity to it's premise and setting. I enjoyed this novel, and look forward to seeing how this author develops his style.
Great First Book!

This is the first book by this author, and truly I am looking forward to the next. What impressed me most with this novel is how well-developed both the story and the characters were. Either he really nails it when it first puts it down on paper, or he spends quality time in careful revision. Either way, I feel these are signs of a truly professional author at work. Deadly Heirs is a very quick read, but you still get a sense that the author spent a great deal of time on his story and characters. This kind of writing is a pleasure to read and to keep reading when the author's second book is published. This author lives in my local area, and I have it on good authority that a second novel with the same main character, the detective Debarlo, is forthcoming. I love this genre of novels. I love good characters to become attached to. I love to read more books with these characters. I am looking forward to his future books.
