A novelization of the hit movie starring Robin Williams as Professor Keating, an inspiring, uplifting teacher who changes his students' lives. Todd Anderson and his friends at Welton Academy can hardly believe how different life is since their new English professor, the flamboyant John Keating, has challenged them to "make your lives extraordinary! Inspired by Keating, the boys resurrect the Dead Poets Society--a secret club where, free from the constraints and expectations of school and parents, they let their passions run wild. As Keating turns the boys on to the great words of Byron, Shelley, and Keats, they discover not only the beauty of language, but the importance of making each moment count. But the Dead Poets pledges soon realize that their newfound freedom can have tragic consequences. Can the club and the individuality it inspires survive the pressure from authorities determined to destroy their dreams?
I would recommend this book to anyone. The book has a flow, balancing friends, tragedy, family, school, and everyday life. Although few find this book a bore, I found it fast-paced and absorbing. This is a thrilling and entrancing piece of literature. -Timo

I did not get a chance to read the whole book but watched the movie. It is a movie that I would recommend to everyone I know. It is filled with real life lessons that change your life. Mr.Keating is played by Robin Williams and he does a wonderful job. He not only touches the heart of his students but also the watchers. We learn about Carpe Diem and how we should apply it in our lives in a safe way. Neil is an example of how tragic things can end when as a young student one tries to exercise Carpe Diem and deal with pressure from parents at the same time. Through the other students we can also get different points of views about Carpe Diem. The time frame is different and very well portrait with a mixture of great actors and music. One can relate to the actors in such a way that one becomes involved in their lives. Everyone should see the movie and learn to live life to the fullest.
It catches you by the heart...

It catches you by the heart. The author really makes you care for the boys in the book. You read about their dreams and just want them to come true. When they don't you just cry...Probably the best book I will ever read.(excuse me for my bad spelling,I'm from Sweden, ok..)
Poesis is the Key

One Reviewer of this book ended with: "The authorities win over the Society." Another ended with the question: "Will the Society survive in spite of authority?" My answer is a resounding YES! Why? Because Poetic License (free speech) and Poetic Justice (As You Like It) always triumphs in the end. Trust me :)
I though the book was a very entriging to read.
