I hope Mr. Hemlin will write more

I have thoroughly enjoyed this mystery series by Tim Hemlin and sincerely hope he will write more. I have been checking regularly but to no avail. Please keep up the good work. I love the setting of Houston and the fact that the hero is a chef. These books are very well done and hold my interest to the end.

A very good amateur sleuth mystery

After a long day, Chef Neil Marshall wants to enjoy a drink at a gay bar. However, sitting on his right is a fellow worker who continues to discuss business. On his left is a peer who desperately wants to leave his current employer, TV personality Sherwood Willis. When the trio leaves the bar, they inadvertently walk into the middle of an anti-gay rally. Worse yet, they observe four of the demonstrators beating up a helpless person. Neil enters the fray and manages to end the attack, but loses his wallet to a skinhead who now knows the chef's residence. Neil worries that the varmint will soon visit him. He also has another problem. The police have arrested Neil's boss Perry Stevens for killing Sherwood.. Neil begins sleuthing in an attempt to prove Perry is innocent. During his investigation, Neil finds another corpse, a disgruntled employee of Perrys'. The police start to look at Neil as a suspect, making it even more imperative that he uncovers the true identity of the killer. Amateur detective Neil Marshall is a caring person who wants to do the right thing even if it sends him into the middle of homicides and other scary situations. Readers will enjoy Neil's exploits, which allows master magician Tim Hemlin to pull sleight of the hand and constant misdirection to trick the audience into heading the wrong way down a one-way street. The audience remains unaware that they are traveling down an errant path until they reach the climax where Mr. Hemlin reveals the villain. The eccentric secondary characters add the spice to DEAD MAN'S BROTH, helping to turn this culinary mystery into a fascinating addition that all genre fans will devour.Harriet Klausner
