Book Overview

To his neighbors, church deacon Sam Smithers was a man of faith, a man of God, a family man. But the prostitutes on Tampa's Hillsborough Avenue knew him as a sex-obsessed John with a dangerous gleam in his eye. Then, on May 29 1996, he picked up two prostitutes and led them into an orgy of horror -- which ended when he smashed an ax into their heads and chopped up their bodies. Now, Deacon of Death takes readers into one man's twisted double life...

Terrific Read!

This book just knocked my socks off! I read true crime alot but this one, wow! This is a story about an ax wielding church deacon serial killer. What more can I say? It was great!

Great!

This is a great book because it explores the psyche of a serial killer who happened to be your average neighbor. It really makes you wonder who that neighbor is.As for Susan O'Brien's review, she is not only wrong, she is strident. If she's such an expert on true crime as she claims, how many such books as she written?
