My favorite Marianne K. Martin yet!

Ms. Martin is a skilled storyteller. The main characters, Moni and Katherine are complex and seem real. The author catapults us alternately between romance, eroticism, high drama, and just a bit of humor to keep the story from becoming too intense. This novel is a vivid portrait of two women and the dramatic circumstances that form the backdrop as they fall in love. You will be on the edge of your seat throughout the love and the pain. I recommend this novel highly!

Beautifully Written!

This is a beautifully written book. One of my favorite lines is, "You give me mornings-after filled with the love you promised the night before." The description of each character unfolds along with the story, you feel the action and drama as it is happening. It is a story the reader feels and experiences with the characters instead of watching them play out each scene.I really liked the action throughout, the characters are very active and show- up in many different locations. I especially enjoyed the way Ms. Martin crafted the attack chapter by keeping the reader moving back and forth from one charcater to the other. It kept me on edge. After reading her other books, I am convinced that Marianne Martin is easily at the top of her genre. She writes exciting not sappy love stories that are filled with memorable characters, important lesbian issues, and delicious love scenes. I highly recommend this book as well as Martin's trilogy, which includes Legacy of Love, Love in the Balance, and Never Ending. Martin is a "don't miss" author.

Well Done!

There are romances and then there are love stories as written by authors like Marianne Martin.Dawn of the Dance is an excellent example of how much substance a love story can have. For us love is never simple, it is a complexity of emotion - care, fear, guilt, banging up against a strong physical desire. Thus the struggle for peace and happiness that makes for Martin's wonderful story.I was drawn quickly into the character of Moni Matteson. I felt for her, for young women like her who struggled for acceptance and love from such a young age. Then, I found myself wondering what I would do if I were ever in Katherine's position. Is there ever a true enough love worth risking so much for? This is a thought-provoking and very well-written book. I particularly love the writer's style, which keeps me continuously wondering, worrying, and reading. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent!

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I was very glad I ordered it. I have taught in a community college, and now teach at a four year college. The situations in which the characters find themselves in this story are regretfully still occuring and I find myself envious of the progress that some of my collegues enjoy at other universities. I thought it interesting that the author handled the controversial subject of teacher-student relations quite delicately - having the student placed in a teaching situation with the teacher first. She handled it with conscience.I thoroughly enjoyed the love connection between the charcters. They were unique in their personalities and backgrounds, and in their approach to finding happiness in their lives. The length of the seduction, "the dance", was wonderful - love as a mental process as well as a physical one. This was an excellent love story, and an eye-opener if you think we have no more work to do in bringing our educational institutions into the new millenium.

HER BEST BOOK YET, AND THIS WAS GREAT

MARIANNE MARTIN THIS IS HER THRID BOOK AND SHE GETS BETTER WITH EACH BOOK SHE WRITES. THE STORY OF "DAWN OF THE DANCE" WILL MAKE YOU THINK AND ASK YOURSELF WHAT WOULD YOU DO FOR LOVE? AND WHAT WOULD YOU LET SOMEONE DO FOR LOVE? I LOVE THIS BOOK IT WAS HER BEST ONE YET.
