Grandiose 1980's romance

If a long, eventful, saga-like romance is what you're looking for, this book is for you. I greatly enjoyed following the heroine through her harrowing and sensual adventures, and the hero through his seemingly hopeless love for her. The suspense of the book lay not in if they would make it work, but if they would ever see each other again. The author did a good job of making this interim interesting to read. The Eastern European setting was also unexpected and fresh.
