An open and refreshing look at issues that concern single Christians. A solidly biblical study that shares how one can be drawn into a more intimate relationship with God and learn how to prepare for a relationship with a future spouse.
Dr. Risk's book is one of the best I have ever read. He is an intelligent and wise man who tailors his book to address single Christians as intelligent people also. He doesn't dumb down the insights he offers, and he doesn't compromise on important issues such as Christians dating non-Christians. Dr. Risk obviously put a lot of thought and prayer into this book, rather than just sharing his own experiences as a Christian singleton. This book is totally Bible-based, and the author backs up everything he says with God's word. Dating and Waiting is not a how-to-find-a-man/woman book, however. It focuses solely on building your relationship with God and trusting Him that even if you remain single forever (yikes!), God holds you in the palm of His hand. Thank you, Dr. Risk, for this wonderful book!
Very encouraging

I found this book to be very helpful. I recently went through a break-up and have found myself drawing to God for strength from the pain and for assurity of a full, joyous today and a full, joyous future. Sometimes when faced with difficult situations we find ourselves questioning God's descisions but we know undoubtly that they are in our best interest. Does that make it easier to embrace? Does that take the pain of the loss away? Well, in our acceptance of God's actions it does take the pain away in a sense but of course our emotions sometimes take awhile to catch up to our full trust in Him. The author touches on many of the issues faced by us single Christians and how we should handle dating and waiting. He touches on love and the physical desires we all face. He talks also about trusting God when relationships end and when some we desire don't even begin. This book is pretty simple and I think that is what makes it so great. The author began this book when he himself was frustrated with being single and concluded it when he was married. The reality is that some of us do not marry and as scary as that seems at times this book reminds us that God's call for us all are different but they do fit into his plan perfectly. Once we choose to obey and follow Him wherever he leads that is where we find true happiness. I recommend this read.
