Excellent advanced overview

This is ideal for advanced database students to overview where is the subject of database heading; it is concise and easy reading. The author skillfully zooms you through the important advanced concepts without bog down by technicalities.

nicely organized and thorough

Addresses many topic in data management including distributed databases, relational databases, heterogeneus database integration, data warehousing and mining. As a scientist I got a very good overview of data management.

Very well written book

I have been waiting a long time to understand at a high level what database systems are all about and finally I have found a book that explains the concepts very clearly. I recommend this book to any beginner in database systems. It is not a practical book. Nevertheless it gives pointers to several practical works.
