Good reference

Before I start the review, I will disclose that one of the authors is my professor. I used this book last year when I was trying to learn Stata for a class, and found the structure of the book useful. I used many of the examples for the code in my projects, and I was able to easily look up code or topics that I was unfamiliar with but needed for assignments. The only disadvantage to this book, now that I am actually using it for a class, is that the instructions in the assignments at the ends of the chapters are confusing. If an instructor is using this book, I would suggest modifying the activities in the back (because the datasets used for the exercises are from the real-world) or I would create something completely new from the content of the chapter.

Data Analysis Using Stata

This is a must book for those doing research using STATA. Simplicity and completeness make this book a great value.

Very use book

This is an excellent reference written in easy to understand language that covers the basics for Stata. Far better than slugging through the expensive manuals. Well laid out with good examples.

Great refernce for Stata and Data analysis

This book serves well to introduce us to data analysis using Stata showing steps in data analysis with practical examples.

Good combination of Stata and data analysis

This is a good introduction to both Stata and data analysis. It's a good starting point if you are new to either Stata or data analysis. The book covers entry-level regression and categorical analysis and some Stata programming techniques. You need to read this book before getting into more advanced topics (e.g., panel data, survival analysis, etc.)
