"OH, FEATHERS!" - WHAT A WONDERFUL PLOT!

A guardian angel for the gunslinger, Jake Garrett? What was St. Peter thinking? Humorous! Caitlin "Cat" Parker was trying to dodge the man following her. And wouldn't you know, she runs into Jake on exiting the train at Millwood. She definitely [almost] want revenge for Jake killing the only man who offered to marry her. Angel Tamera was finally given the job of guarding Jake Garrett. Her favorite exclaimation, "Oh, Feathers!" and would you believe she sometimes drops a feather. Jake Garrett is hopeing to maybe settle in Millwood and the sheriff, Ty, a man in his late fortys wants Jake to put on the deputy's badge. Jake is afraid of bringing in the gunslingers trying to make a reputation in killing him. There is so much fun in meeting all the various characters and Cat's trying to act like a lady from New York. Then "Lazarus" shows up and wants Cat. [Well, maybe] He just about does Jake in. Tamera had been temperarily called off duty. Leave it to Cat to come to the rescue. What a rocky road to love! A most excellent story - Definitely recommended --M

surprisingly good book!

This is the first Joyce Adams book I have read, and I was quite pleased with this find! The book is set in the old western times (think John Wayne and Clint Eastwod) and is about Cat, a female gunfighter who gets all dressed up and pretends she's a New York lady in order to fool and revenge herself on the gunfighter Jake who killed her fiance. Only problem is she isn't finding it as easy as she planned! I really enjoyed reading about a strong female character who can equal the men yet retains her feminism, and the way the that Adams incorporates guardian angels into the story is cute, not overly dramatic and too out of place as I have seen in other books. The book is also pretty humorous at times, which I like. I don't want give away the story by praising it too much, but if you like historical romance novels at all, this is definitely a great one to read! For myself, I will definitely be reading more Joyce Adams novels. Hopefully the rest are as interesting as Darling Cat was!
