Great "Adults Only" reading.

This is the first book I've read in the Idol series. The cover artwork and description on the back made me buy it. But once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Jack Gordon has written a story with facinating characters, an interesting plot, and wonderfully discriptive sex scenes.

A fun hot time which happens to be well written

So often the "erotica" genre is marked by bad writing and jumps between sex scenes. This, however, is much more literate with extensive bridges between (well written) panting scenes. And the story keeps you going, pulled along to see where the story goes, what the secret is, and what happens to the characters. If you want to expand yourself out of the run of the mill, definitely check this out. It makes me want to read more of the books by Jack Gordon, which others have reviewed favorably.

Very Good

I thought this was just a trashy erotica as usual, but this turned out to be a great read. I hope Mr. Jack Gordon adds more like this novel to Idol series.

hot erotica... not cheap trash

Not your usual cut-and -run from one sex scene to another. There is plot here, which only enhances the fully descriptive sexual encounters. Plot twists and descriptive settings combine with intensly and masterfully written encounters that carry you easily thru the book's end.

A little non run-of-the mill

This is a nice piece of homoerotic literature which actually has characterization and a plot, unlike many other erotic books out there. Many of the genre seem to overbalance in terms of the ratio of hot smut-filled pages to actual story, but Dark Rider seems to have gotten the balance pretty close to perfect. The plot revolves around two would-be lovers--a gay Englishman who has inherited a tiny cottage on a remote Scottish island, and the apparently straight Argentinian roommate that he's had an unrequited crush on for months. The two of them end up in a variety of sexual shenanigans with various members of said remote Scottish island, including a long-haired, kilt-clad muscular fisherman straight out of Braveheart, and a leather-jacketed masochistic juvenile delinquent. I also enjoyed the lovely Lady Laird of the island and her secret, and the pagan aspects of the islanders' deal with the Faeries, who require a sacrifice (a handsome young stud, of course). Although there's a lot of words dedicated to Robert's ongoing crush on Angelo (so many that it's almost a relief rather than a climax when they finally get it together) it'll probably please those of you who've been in that situation with a straight roomie and fantasized similar endings. And having lost my own virginity on a stone table surrounded by standing stones, I've got a soft spot for stories of pagan sex rituals in such places. Dark Rider was a fun read, and was a welcome spot in my bleak week when it came in the mail. If you're bored with most of the genre, this will add a bit of welcome intelligence as well as a good story on its own. One to read once quickly, and reread for the sake of the plot. Raven Kaldera
