Yaoi with an actual story line!

This is my fist review; I liked this book so much I just had to let people know! While it's true that I got this book because I like yaoi--meaning media features sex between males--what really intrigues me is the story; it's actually pretty cool! Lowry, a nobleman from Ralstorm, is charged by the king of Cordinia to find out why his son Davon (the "Dark Prince" of the title) is killing young boys whose names start with "A". Meanwhile, we see Davon's dealings with his pagan god, as well as finding out some of what makes the prince so perverse. If I had any problems with this book it would be that I was a little surprised when what seems to be the central mystery of the books--the reason for Davon's murders--is actually answered for us in this very volume! Perhaps this is going to be a short series? Or is this bit of info not as important to the series as we're originally lead to believe? And of course, even though the audience knows why he's doing it, Lowry is still a long way from finding out. So I'm willing to wait and see how it develops. And speaking of waiting, volume two's not out till April! Still, there was much about this book I did like. The guys are very pretty, the plot is interesting and more than just ways of getting guys together to have sex. And there is sex in it, so you won't be disappointed on that score. So, for fans of yaoi who occasionally like to read something that's more than just sex scene after sex scene, I recommend this book!

Just as Awesome As I Expected

I had very high expectations for this series since I loved the writers other series Winter Demon so much. YES. It's just as good! It's definitely more complicated and darker even, but I could get into it. The art was GORGEOUS. Like, you start to think that Yaoi Press is really getting a better reputation these days to be able to get such good artists. I could totally see this artist getting published in Japan. The story is about the Dark Prince Davon who goes around killing boys with the names that start with A because he's worshipping this evil god named Pharah who's telling him to do it. It's kind of cool how it turned out that he had to kill the 'a' named boys who were a certain age. There's some interesting mystery about that, but I won't spoil it here. There's other mysteries going on, like the weird relationship (ahem) between Davon and his brother, why Davon is so brainwashed by the god, then this other demon character (who has a great loving scene with the other prince with dark hair UHHHHNNN, HAWT!) shows up and we don't know who he is. This first issue is just setting up a lot of interesting stuff that I know will come out in the other issues. There was lots of lovin going on though between a lot of different couples. I think that this is totally different not jsut from Winter Demon, but from anything else I read. It could be like medival fantasy, but it's more fantasy on top of that. Like the 'church' is mentioned, but you know they're not in a historical version of Europe or anything. I just like it when stories are totally new and when you get all these twists and turns, plus beautiful dudes going at it. I mean, what more do you need? I definitely have to get the rest of the series. I like that there's going to be a picture on the edge that will show itself when you get all three books and put them together. There's two other parts in this book too. There's a second chapter after the main story by the same artist that shows when Davon was a kid meeting his relative for the first time who's the king of another kingdom. We see how the king gets on with this feisty alchemist during the story. I loved it! We start to also see what a himbo Davon is too. He's throwing himself at the king even though the king is too honorable to take him up on it. The last part: A Winter Demon 3 Preview! YAY! This one looks so good! I would have bought this book even if the main story was junk just to get to this preview. It was sexy and funny. Dude! I can't wait!
