It's a brilliant metaphor for the ideas that are covered in this book. A brilliant thinker working at the intersection of net criticism and social activism, Lovink has figured prominently in cyberculture for the past decade. He discusses the rise and fall of dotcom mania, the erosion of email, debates over a common Internet time standard, virtual communities, and the clashes and synergies among governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
