Something about this book leaves you breathless

R.H. Stavis' novel, Daniel's Veil his a sure hit. Her novel is both engaging and memorizing in the quality of her work. She has the rare ability to make you sit and wonder about what could be and what might be; this book is a top-notch read for anyone who enjoys supernatural-suspense. This is a rock 'em, shock 'em, explosive thrill-ride, and it doesn't ease until the final page. --Joseph McGee, author of In the Wake of the Night.

A Complex and Satisfying Novel

R. H. Stavis' novel, Daniel's Veil is a layered, complex story that goes a bit deeper than your standard supernatural thriller. It probes the psychological cause and effect that allows the reader to truly understand the characters. Very well done.

Daniel's Veil

Daniel's Veil is about a subject I wouldn't usually read... hearing the reviews, I decided to read it, and I can honestly say that it hasn't let me down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Daniel's Veil. It has been well put together, is easy to follow the characters and really gets you thinking about what if... I thought I was going to be frustrated getting nearer to the end that it would leave me hanging, wanting to know more. But, what can I say - a great ending to an unputdownable read!

Speechless. Yet I could talk about this book for days

This is not an easy book to describe. "Daniel's Veil" is a moving story with so many different elements, that it is difficult to classify it into any single genre. I really have never read anything quite like it. The book is carefully constructed into three different parts, each revolving around the three central characters. Book One: "Daniel", is a very emotional character driven beginning, filled with both anguish and happiness. I would recommend this section alone to people who enjoyed King's "Shawshank Redemption" (it also has twist at the end, even though the story is just beginning...). Then, Part Two: "The Professor", deals with so much science, yet still keeps the humanity aspect very close as more characters are introduced. Some of the science in the book is very complex and even controversial, but Stavis uses an intermediary character to explain all that would have been lost. Fans of Crichton's "Jurassic Park" will enjoy this part, and will be eager to learn more about this new science as they read on till the section's climatic finale (yet the story is far from over...). It concludes with Part Three: "Rosalie". This section throws everything into left field and enters the realm of spirituality, while never seeming preachy or biased. Fans of Matheson's "Somewhere in Time" will enjoy this lovers tale set in the most unusual of circumstances. "Daniel's Veil" continues to keep the suspense going throughout, while giving the reader clues, yet leaving most in the dark. It isn't until the very end where a light is shined so bright, it will take days to recover. (when it's over, many will feel compelled to call their friends or find the nearest water cooler). Not exactly horror, yet sometimes scary, tons of science but not really science fiction, an amazing love story, but not a standard romance. "Daniel's Veil" has to be one of the most genre spanning novels I have ever read. I would recommend this book to anyone simply because it has something for everybody. If I had to describe "Daniel's Veil", I would simply say, It's a unique and remarkable story about life and what we do with it.

A Totally Engaging Read!!!

Daniels Veil was without a doubt one the best paranormal reads I've ever picked up. There were truly no flaws to be found with the pages. Daniel is a cop and a good one but when he looses another child to violence it's one child too many. With bloodstained uniform still on he heads home only to find out that his long time girlfriend is read to move on with another man and that the place he thought was home really isn't. He packs his car and leaves with no real destination in mind but he is looking for something, anything to prove that his life is not a waste. Than out of no where he sees something in the road and swerves to avoid it. The next thing he knows he wakes up, his car is totaled and he is in the middle of nowhere. Realizing he can't lay there forever he gets up and walks for what seems forever before finally reaching a quaint little town. Here he is graciously accepted and warmly welcomed. In no time at all he meets Rosalie. Rosalie awakens Daniel to the wonderful things in life. He knows it's too soon but their relationship has quickly turned to love. Just when he has found the one thing that makes his life worthwhile he finds out a terrible truth. Will he be able to live with what he learns? Dr. Michael Hudson has gotten a chance of a lifetime to prove one of his theories "The Slim Veil" and with the help of his colleges he sets out to do just that. He doesn't expect the results that he ends up getting. Within days of arriving at a beat up old house he has an encounter with a spirit. Soon there is a connection between Michael and the spirit and questions are asked and the answers are surprising. What starts off as a quest to prove a theory becomes much more personal, forcing Michael to reevaluate his life and his choices. Will Michael learn something vital from the other side in order to salvage the mess his life has become before it's too late? Daniel and Michael are compelling characters. I was completely drawn into their world and felt their various pains, heart aches and doubts. The fact that the author was able to create such vivid characters aptly demonstrates the talent behind the name. Secondary characters Rosalie, Pete, Sarah, and Fran are also very important to the storyline. This was a very emotional read that explored the paranormal world and the possibility of "what if?" in a very compelling way. I highly recommend this book!
