A moving holocaust story

Daniel's sotry is a wonderful book. I know that many teens may think it's boring. But even those who don't like to red would enjoy this book. It has a very fairytale like ending that leaves you to think about the holocaust in general. This book was what got me reading holocaust books. If you enjoy history then you would love this book.

An outstanding book!

This book was one of the best books that I have ever read. This was a very realistic story about the Holocaust. Daniel's Story was about how the Nazis slowly took over Europe and how Hitler would torture any people who weren't just like him. Daniel (the main character) did survive through the Holocaust, but not many Jews like him had happy endings. I would recommend this book to anyone over 8 years old. (If it was read to someone under 8, I don't think that they would understand it). This book is very educational and interesting to read.

Daniel's Story

This book paints an inspiring picture of Nazi Germany, Ghettos, and concentration camps. It has elements of heroism, love, and courage. The plot moves quickly and keeps you hooked. You really feel for the characters and want everything to work out for them. This book will stay with the reader long after the finish reading.

Carol Matas made me live Daniel's Story in my mind.

This novel was very upsetting to me because it tells a very real story about what the world was like during the Second World War in Europe, and the pain Jewish people went through because Adolf Hitler didn't like them. He used them as slaves to work in his factories for free. He kept them imprisoned in concentration camps, even though they didn't do anything wrong. First they had to get all their body hair chopped off with a knife, and the Nazis didn't care if they cut them. Then they all got shoved into a room and had buckets of strong disinfectant thrown on them. It really stung. The Nazis didn't care what happened to any of them. They just tortured the prisoners when they weren't working, and some just got shot anyways. Daniel was fourteen when the Nazis captured him. His father was in the same camp. His sister Erika was taken away, and neither Daniel or his Dad knew if she was dead or alive. They both vowed to survive so they could find out. That's what kept them going even when they were hurt or starved. By the time the war ended, Daniel had seen lots of people die and had horrible, horrible stories to tell. That's what makes his story so interesting.I hope that something like this will never happen again!I read this book in Grade 6, and I still think about it often. My sister is reading it for a book report this year. I recommend that when you read this book you carry a box of tissues with you.

I liked this book because the writer made me feel I was in the book.The writer got a message to me that Daniel was determend but also sad because most of his family died.I read this book before we started to read aloud and I couldn't put it down.I think the writer did a very good job.But my favorite part was when Daniel saw Rosa.
