A satisfying read with take away value

I enjoy reading mystery/suspense, and I've read other Brandt Dodson books so I knew I would like this one. As I read the characters became very real to me. I cared if things worked out for them, and at times I didn't expect, couldn't see how this story could have a happy ending. Without giving anything away, I will say the story has a satisfactory ending. The loose ends are tied up. I always look for the relationships of the characters. And in several places I found where this book emphasizes the importance of friendship in our lives. Of believing in each other. Of trust. I highly recommend this book as a satisfying read with take away value.

One More Chapter

As I started to read this, I had a certain page count in mind. Instead I kept saying, "One more chapter." Daniel's Den is a story of a man and a woman from different backgrounds but in truth want the same thing: be ethical and do the right thing. It is a story about good versus evil. Daniel and Laura have one thing in common. Hit men are looking for them and they will stop at nothing to get what they want including murder. The stakes are increased. Each of them is unable to run ~ there are others to think about. Laura has an impressionable young son who is beyond his years. He's the man of the house but he's also the one who needs to be nurtured. Daniel has his black lab. When evil closes in both the young boy (Andy) and Elvis (black lab) prove to be both a help and a hindrance. Before long, Daniel and Laura are all over the news and look guilty as sin. The hit men and the police are in a race to find Daniel and Laura. The police are looking for an arrest. The hit men are looking to kill. Innocent people fall victim to the tangle of webs that are strung throughout the story. If only, they can live one more chapter.

Terrific Thriller

Daniel Borden noticed the black panel van when he went for his morning run. Something about it didn't fit the neighborhood. Laura Traynor didn't notice the van. At least not until she heard her nine-year old son yelling for help, and she found a strange man holding Andy by the arm in a most threatening manner. The man said he just wanted to buy her house. Laura ordered him off the property, and finally got him to leave, but she was still upset by his strange behavior. Jimmy Fontaine who worked at Capshaw-Crane with Daniel is dead. According to the police he drove his car into a swamp. It's been writen off as an accident, but is it? Something just doesn't seem quite right. Daniel has been assigned the job of auditing Jimmy's accounts, but suddenly strange things begin to happen. Someone wants the information hidden in those accounts and Daniel is in their way. In the meantime, Laura is still trying to fight off harrassment by the man who is determined to buy her house. Can the two events be related? Daniel and Laura are caught in a deadly nightmare of deception and danger with no place to run. Daniel's Den is a fast-paced thriller with spine-tingling suspense. I've read every book Brandt Dodson has written, and he just keeps on getting better. He's one of the best suspense wriers around and Daniel's Den is his most captivating one yet. Don't miss it.

DANIEL"S DEN

Following on the success of his Colton Parker Series, Brandt Dodson has hit another home run with DANIEL'S DEN. Daniel Borden is a successful stock analyst at the prestigious Capshaw-Crane group. Working hard and playing by the rules of decency, Daniel has made a comfortable living for himself. Stinging from the hurt of a broken engagement, he decides his career is his future and puts all his energies into further himself at Capshaw-Crane. That is until he discovers one of his co-workers has been laundering money, a co-worker that has died in a freak car accident. Reporting what he has discovered to his boss, Daniel feels relieved that his involvement with Mr. Fontaine's accounts is over - or so he thinks. Laura Traynor has had enough loss in her life. With the loss of her parents and her husband, she struggles to maintain the Valley Mill, the bed and breakfast she and her husband had worked so hard to renovate. Along with her son, Andy, Laura is barely making ends meet. When Anton Farkas offers to buy her out, she refuses. But she soon finds out that Farkas, and those he works for are not willing to take no for an answer. When Daniel is framed for Fontaine's death, he runs, looking for answers regarding the mysterious companies outlined in Fontaine's portfolio. When his path crosses Laura's, they soon find themselves on the run from men that want to make them both disappear-for good. Amidst the terrifying realization that they may never be able to prove their innocence, both Daniel and Laura's developing feelings for each other surface. Daniel realizes what he had found in Laura and Andy is what has been missing from his life. But has he made this discovery too late? Brandt Dodson has once again written a book with characters you are instantly attracted to and a plot that keeps you guessing. With crisp writing and fast action, the pages quickly slip through your fingers as you root for Daniel to clear his name. This is my favorite novel from Brandt to date. Where his Colton Parker series only alluded to the possibility of Colton finding romance, DANIEL'S DEN takes the next step and allows the readers to see a true relationship develop between Daniel and Laura. But male readers needn't fear. The subtlety of their relationship is done without sacrificing the action and intrigue Brandt is known for. Good job, Brandt! You've done it again.

Dodson Knows How to Build a Story

Daniel Borden loves his life as a stock analyst in New Orleans. However, things quickly turn south when Daniel is assigned to audit the accounts of a co-worker who died mysteriously. As he digs around he discovers some discrepancies that seem to prove the deceased was stealing money from his clients. Daniel reports his findings to his superiors and within a matter of hours he finds himself the main suspect in the murder investigation of his co-worker. As if things weren't bad enough, it seems some very powerful men now want Daniel dead. Reluctantly, Daniel runs for his life with his dog, Elvis, and some valuable information someone is willing to kill for. His search for answers leads him to a woman and her son who happen to be connected to the conspiracy Daniel has uncovered. Now they must work together to bring the truth to light, all the while dodging the authorities and the men who want them dead. With Daniel's Den, Brandt Dodson continues his impressive hot streak of must read fiction. While Dodson is known for his mystery novels, his last two offerings have proven how he can hold his own in the suspense genre. From the opening lines this is a gripping story that slowly builds steam as we are effortlessly carried towards an intense and action packed final act. Along the way Dodson builds an impressive foundation of credibility with precise detail and exploration of the investment world. Always informative and never boring, Dodson indeed knows how to build a story. Dodson's writing isn't just full of mystery and thrills. He also has the uncanny ability to incorporate spiritual themes into his writing without being forceful or preachy. As the characters struggle with the tough questions of life, we are challenged by their struggle and search for answers. In the end we are left with a resounding message of redemption and faith, nestled into a nice little romance amidst the turmoil and chaos. Daniel's Den only solidifies Brandt Dodson's standing as one of the best storytellers in this market.
