Suspenseful

Penny Jackson is trying to protect her daughter, Missy, who can identify some bank robbers. When the FBI fails to keep them safe, Penny takes her daughter and runs. They end up in the town of jessup, Texas where Caleb Harmon is the sheriff. Caleb is determined to protect them at all costs even as far as not letting the federal authorities know where they are until the threat is stopped. The story was full of action, suspense, and mystery (how do the bad guys know where they are). The only issue I had with the story was the fact that a sheriff and a former FBI agent couldn't figure out until they were told how the bad guys kept finding them. This is a great series about the Harmon cousins.

Child in danger, inspirational suspense

Six year old Missy is the only witness able to identify some bank robbers. Single mom, Penny Jackson, goes on the run when someone tries to silence her daughter. They end up in a small Texas town and feel safe until someone manages to find them. Caleb Harmon, the police chief, will do anything to keep these two safe, but will it be enough? How do the bad guys keep finding them? I thoroughly enjoyed this action filled suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I find suspense stories with children as targets seem more intense and make me want to find out what happens faster than I might otherwise. This book definitely kept me engaged. I highly recommend reading this book!

I received this book as an ARC with no expectation of a positive review. Penny and Missy are renting a home in Jessup, Texas. Trying to hide from those who want to keep Missy quiet from testifying as to what she saw during a bank robbery. Penny will do anything to keep her daughter safe. She does not trust anyone. Now, the bad guys have found them. Does she let her guard down enough to trust Caleb, the sheriff in keeping them safe.
