Just finished and exhilarated

Finally! Finally a book about BDSM connected with a great police story. Here we get everything: Sexy scenes and thrilling suspense. Get your hands on this one and read how Cole and Alex get the guy who killed three women. Also interesting: The story is alternately written by Alex and Cole in first person. Very intriguing.

Detective Cole Berkley and his partner Alex Reed are given the job of solving two murders committed by a possible serial killer. In both cases, the murderer has tied up his victim and acted out a scene in an erotic book. It is now up to Cole and Alex to find the pattern and the motive. Cole Berkley doesn't understand the BDSM lifestyle and is not sure that he wants to. Unwilling to believe that any sane person would want to be spanked and tied up, Cole doesn't see what is happening right before his eyes. Never before have I read a novel of such intensity and suspense about the BDSM lifestyle and its perception by those of society who are "normal". Cole Berkley, while at first appalled by the desires of Alex, soon came to realize that her desires might very well be his. As for Alex, kudos to this woman for sticking to her guns, no matter the consequences. Alex was one tough detective and an even better submissive. I loved her. I could not put Dangerous Cravings down until I read the very last word. Dangerous Cravings made me sit back and take a good hard look at the BDSM lifestyle and the misconceptions of people who don't understand it. Evangeline Anderson has once again come through with a novel that grabbed my attention, held me in suspense, and made me yearn for more at the end. Fabulous Ride

There is a murderer loose in Tampa who is turning authors into erotic works of art then killing them. The killer's M.O. is the same in all the murders. He ties his victims to their beds in classic bondage fantasy poses then tortures and strangles them. Detectives Cole Berkley and Alex Reed have been assigned to find and arrest the potential serial killer before any more writers of erotic fiction are murdered. This is the basic premise of Dangerous Cravings but the book is so much more complex than that. Detectives Alex Reed and Cole Berkley of the Tampa PD, best friends and longtime partners, are assigned the case and go undercover in the BDSM community to try and trap the killer. Alex is tough and fearless on the job and handles the high stress effortlessly. But off duty is another story as she craves to be mastered. She writes erotic books under a pseudonym, about bondage and submission, as an outlet for her shameful unfulfilled desires. She has to protect her secret life while on assignment because she fears that Cole will no longer want her as his partner or respect her as a woman if he finds out about the submissive side to her personality. Cole gets a quick lesson of the D/s world when he and Alex visit the Dominatrix from whom the latest victim was taking lessons, posing as Master and slave. Mistress Samantha soon outs Alex's submissive tendencies as her yearning for discipline is exposed and she can't hide anymore what she is and Cole realizes that for her pain is pleasure. I could not put this book down. It is an incredible roller coaster of a ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. In the meantime the murderer is not letting up and Alex is next on his list of victims. Dangerous Cravings has everything - Hot sex, love, kink, and suspense. This is a love story as well as a crime drama. When you think you know who the killer is you find out that person has an air tight alibi and you have to start over with another suspect. What was most unusual about the book is that it was written in the first person by both main characters as well as the killer, so you know their innermost feelings. I promise you won't regret buying this book.

This is one great story

I usually don't like books written in the first person, but I must say I'm glad I didn't let that stand in my way. I really loved the format, where each of the main characters was given there own chapter or half chapter. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. This was a great suspense/crime story. The romance really was a backseat story in my point of view to the story of the murders going on and catching who is responsible. And after awhile I was reading just to find out who it was.

The victims are all made to look as though they were participating in BDSM play, but the series of dead bodies show something sinister, rather than erotic, is at work. Police detectives Alex and Cole are assigned to the case. For Alex, this case touches on something very personal: her secret interest in BDSM. As she and her partner engage in some undercover work to find the killer, she is frightened her secret will be revealed and she'll loose the respect of her partner and co-workers. What will the investigation reveal? There may be more secrets than anyone is willing to admit. This was a really well written crime story. The book alternates between telling the story from Alex and Cole's point of view, clearly delineating between the two. The alternating viewpoints really add to this story. I greatly enjoyed hearing the different viewpoints as Alex and Cole sifted through a myriad of possible suspects. The story is well thought out with not one immediately obvious suspect. Rather the book unfolds with many possible pathways. There are a number of secondary characters that are sufficiently developed that the reader can believe that "this one" must be the guilty party. Both main characters cared passionately about their work, but one has something to hide. As hints to Alex's secret submissive nature are revealed, Cole finds himself having uncomfortable thoughts about dominating her. His confusion as to how to deal with this side of himself adds to the realism of the story. Sexual tension just builds between these two until the inevitable meltdown-and you will need ice when that happens! There are a number of scenes involving erotic pain that the main characters observe or participate in that are not for the faint of heart, but are written in manner to guarantee steam. This was an excellent crime drama mixed with enough sex and secrets to make you sweat.
