This book is superbly presented and essential for anyone in a relationship with another, male or female, or simply working to cultivate the relationship with the male and female essences of their own beingness. The messages conveyed in this eloquent writing can be easily translated into better understanding the male and female archetypes as they exist within ourselves and our relationships. The dance of cultivating the relationship of those two aspects, whether externally through the process of being in relationship (heterosexual or homosexual is irrelavent, as both male and female aspects are present within any relationship) or internally to better balance our own sensual experience of life and open ourselves to deeper understanding is beautifully displayed. What a remarkable book. I felt as if the author were speaking directly to my own essence. It ushered an invitation for me to more deeply surrender, show respect for and extend love to the wonderful lover in my life. This book would be a splendid wedding or anniversary gift...
A new perspective on human sexuality through the lens of male and female archetypes
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
Creating a poetic, comprehensive and readable description of human sexuality seen through the lens of spirit, seemed impossible until I read this book. Dancing with the Beloved is an authentic work of love written by someone intimately familiar with the subject of human relationships. This is not surprising, considering that Patrick Donovan is a practicing physician and archetypal analyst who wrote several good books on the subject, as he has been developing all-embracing ideas about the health of the human spirit over the last thirty-plus years. If you need a spiritual perspective on human sexuality, look no further.
