A remarkable memoir that deserves far more attention

Dancing to War is the true story of a German girl who was drafted into [..] Army and made to entertain high-ranking [..] officers by dancing. This chronicles, in stunning prose, Elfi's train journey to the Russian front where she and her fellow dancers (all young girls) were made to risk their lives in order to entertain the troups. The story is remarkable enough, but the beauty of the prose makes this book a must-read. This amazing coming-of-age story really should be made into a major motion picture. We are fortunate that Elfi came to the U.S., learned English, and brought us this riveting tale of a little-known aspect of World War II.
